On Children’s Day, India’s specialist white-ball all-rounder, Hardik Pandya took to social media to share a special post dedicated to his son Agastya Pandya.
The 31-year-old on his Instagram, posted a heartfelt video where his son Agastya can be seen cheering his father on during a training session. As the Indian international was playing his shots, his son could be seen praising his father saying, ‘Good shot papa good shot’. At the end of the session, Agastya can be seen making his way to his father as the two share a hug.
Hardik has proven himself to be an indispensable member of the Indian white-ball setup. His ability to take the game away from the opposition with both bat and ball makes him an invaluable asset to the Indian team.
His absence was felt by the Indian team in the 2023 ODI World Cup campaign where he was out injured and the national side despite making it to the final, fell short after a crushing defeat to Australia in Ahmedabad. It could even be said that Hardik could have been the difference that may have changed India’s fate in that game, had he been fit.
Pandya showcased his class during the 2023 T20 World Cup final where he bowled the crucial last over against South Africa. With 16 runs needed for the Proteas in the last over and David Miller looking in fine touch with the bat, Pandya delivered the big wicket of the left-handed batter thanks to a historic catch by Suryakumar Yadav which proved to be the game-changing moment to give India the win by seven runs.
He continues to represent the side in both ODI and T20Is and is currently in the squad for the ongoing four-match T20I tour against South Africa. With two wins in three, the onus is on the Indian team to take the win in the final game and Hardik Pandya could play a pivotal role to help India continue their winning run over the South African unit who have proved to be a tough side to beat on home soil.
