India batting star Virat Kohli may not have scored big against New Zealand, but he overcame the disappointment to maintain a lively presence on the field.

From imitating Shreyas Iyer‘s fielding mishap to touching Axar Patel‘s feet for dismissing dangerman Kane Williamson, Virat Kohli provided wholesome entertainment during India’s victory over New Zealand in a Champions Trophy Group A clash in Dubai on Sunday. The contest was Kohli’s 300th ODI of a storied career and he became the 7th cricketer from India to reach this milestone and 22nd overall.
Kohli though didn’t dazzle with the bat though as stunning catch from Glenn Phillips ended his innings on 11.
The former India captain though overcame the disappointment at having not made his 300th ODI memorable with the bat and seemed to have a gala time during India’s successful defense of 250 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Kohli also recreated football icon Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous ‘Siuuu’ celebration while on the field.
In the past, the 36-year-old Kohli has talked about his admiration for Ronaldo who is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest footballers to have played the game.
After Portugal’s exit from the FIFA World Cup 2022, Kohli had sad Ronaldo for him is “greatest of all time”.
“No trophy or any title can take anything away from what you’ve done in this sport and for sports fans around the world. No title can explain the impact you’ve had on people and what I and so many around the world feel when we watch you play. That’s a gift from god. A real blessing to a man who plays his heart out every single time and is the epitome of hard work and dedication and a true inspiration for any sportsperson. You are for me the greatest of all time,” Kohli had said in a post on Instagram.
The Portuguese has won truckload of trophies – team and individual – during his career including five Ballon d’Or awards. He has represented some of the biggest football clubs in the world including Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus. Currently, he’s plying his trade for Saudi club Al-Nassr.
