The Indian cricket team were hosted by the Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese ahead of the two-day pink-ball practice match against the PM’s 11, set to begin on November 30.

The game being held at the Manuka Oval will be India’s preparation ahead of the day-night Test against Australia set to be played in Adelaide later on December 6.

In a video uploaded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma spoke at the event where he talked about the history of India and Australia and their mutual love for the game of cricket.

In addition, he expressed how the players love playing in Australia and enjoy the country and its culture as well.

India have begun the Border-Gavaskar series on a flying note with the visitors taking the win in the first Test at Perth by a mammoth 295-run margin to take the series lead.

With Rohit joining the side, he is set to lead the side again after a brief period of absence where he was with his family for the birth of his second child. In Rohit’s place, Jasprit Bumrah led the side where he led from the front to take the game by the scruff of the neck with a five-wicket haul in the first innings.

This set the tone for the visitors as Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 161 while Virat Kohli ended his century drought with a fine hundred off 143 balls to help India take a massive second-innings lead.

Australia’s batting unit was far from their best as the hosts were all out for 238 runs. The bowling unit delivered a stellar team performance with Bumrah and Siraj leading the line with three wickets each in the final innings to help get the win.

The hosts will be keen on bouncing back after the shocking defeat. They will be looking to end their decade-long losing streak in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series and reclaim the title and also end India’s chances of qualifying for the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.

The two-day game against the PM’s 11 will also be the chance for Rohit to prepare himself and get up to speed to take on the challenges of the day-night Test. He will be keen to showcase his class with the bat and prove that he is still the man to lead the Indian side.
