Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Delhi Capitals (DC) batter Karun Nair were spotted hugging after the teams’ IPL 2025 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday (April 13). The duo had shared a rare heated moment during the big match, where Bumrah was seen leaving his team’s circle to say a few words to Nair in the middle of a drinks break, prompting the batter to then approach MI captain Hardik Pandya.

After MI snatched a narrow 12-run victory, DC uploaded a video of their behind-the-scenes clips. It included words from skipper Axar Patel, coach Hemang Badani and the moments of players from the two sides mingling with each other. You can find Bumrah and Nair’s embrace at the 26th-second mark:

The moment happened in the sixth over of the innings. After Nair hit Bumrah for two sixes and a four, he ran to take a double on the last ball to complete his 22-ball half-century but collided with Bumrah who was walking back.

The batter immediately had his hand up apologetically but something seemed to have irked the pacer because, during the strategic time-out, he walked to Nair and said a few words. The DC man was then seen having a chat with Pandya.

Nair eventually got out for 89 (40) to left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner, which triggered a collapse and the hosts got bowled out in the penultimate over. This was DC’s first loss of the season.

“Big smile on the face, please. It’s okay, we are allowed to lose. Don’t worry, guys. Cheers. Big smile please,” skipper Axar Patel told his team in the dressing room.

Badani said, “We’ve had Karun who got a 90 [89] and Abishek who got a 35 [33]… I’m not thinking too hard about it. The next time we chase, I’m sure we’ll do it with the same intent and bravery… He (Karun) is only got nine first-class hundreds this year. He was itching for a chance… That was something special.”

For MI, it was just their second win in six matches, which should give them a bit of confidence for the future.
