India vs Australia, 3rd Test: Jasprit Bumrah has allayed fears over his injury by bowling at full throttle during training session in Brisbane today.
Midway through his 20th over of the Adelaide Test, Jasprit Bumrah pulled up before the Indian team physio raced to the ground to treat the fast bowler. It led to concerns over Bumrah’s fitness before India bowling coach Morne Morkel allayed those fears claiming the vice-captain was suffering from camps and he’s doing fine.
Bumrah has been the standout bowler for India in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, playing a starring role in team’s win in the series opening Perth Test last month in which he claimed eight wickets to win player-of-the-match award.
Ahead of the third Test that starts from Saturday in Brisbane, a clip of Bumrah bowling at full pelt during a nets session has given further indication that all is well with India’s strike bowler.
In the short clip, Bumrah starts by bowling legbreaks before switching to fast bowling as KL Rahul gets beaten on the outside edge.

Former Australia fast bowler Damien Fleming had though dismissed Morkel’s explanation behind Bumrah being tended do during the day-night Test which culminated in the home team’s 10-wicket win.
“There’s no way that’s cramp. He was very ginger after the break in the first innings. He bowled again, not quite as slow second innings. I don’t even know why he bowled that over [in the second innings]. That actually gave some secrets away to everyone,” Fleming said on SEN Radio.
There’s been plenty of focus on Bumrah’s workload given his history with a injuries. With the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Harshit Rana producing mixed results in the first two matches, there have been suggestions that India fly down Mohammed Shami to Australia for the remainder of the series in order to lessen the burdern on Bumrah’s shoulders.
Shami has been playing domestic cricket to prove his match fitness after spending over a year on the sidelines due to an ankle injury. However, recently India captain Rohit Sharma revealed Shami has developed swelling in his knees but the doors for his international comeback in Australia are still open.
