Team India batsman KL Rahul had an extended nets session during the side’s training session at the Western Australian Cricket Ground in Perth on Tuesday, ahead of the highly-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy set to begin on the 22nd of November.

The wicketkeeper-batter has been struggling for form and spent a prolonged period in the nets honing his skills in an attempt to recover his best form ahead of the series down under.

Rahul looked like a shadow of his former self in Team India’s recently concluded Test series against New Zealand at home. The three-match Test series against the touring Kiwis shook the nation and the wider cricketing world as Tom Latham’s men posted a historic first-ever 3-0 series whitewash on Indian soil as they outplayed the hosts across all departments throughout the series.

Rahul was sent back for a duck in the first innings of the opening Test in his own M Chinnaswamy backyard, before posting a 12-run innings in the second essay of the game that Indian went down by 8 wickets to the Kiwis.

The 32-year-old was not part of the sides that lost the second and third games of the series to the tourists at Pune and Mumbai subsequently as India suffered an absolute embarrassment.

Rahul, however, was deployed in India A’s second unofficial Test against the Australian A side in the lead up to the BGT, and his toil with the willow continued as he was only able to add 4 runs in the first innings before managing to fare just slightly better in comparison in the second innings with a paltry 10 runs knock.

The Karnataka batter, who has had credible showings overseas in the past, will be looking to find his groove as India look to put the shambolic performance at home against the Kiwis behind them and take on the Aussies down under in a five-match Test series.
