Nicholas Pooran gifted a signed cap to a special Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fan following an unfortunate incident where a six off the bat of the West Indies power-hitter slammed on his head earlier in IPL 2025. The heartening gesture was made on April 21, a day before Lucknow’s next clash against the Delhi Capitals.
Passionate LSG fan Nabeel received the cap signed by Pooran, who indirectly apologized and offered his consolation during a chat ahead of the Lucknow-Delhi clash at the Ekana Stadium. Nabeel gleefully accepted the cap after Pooran’s kind gesture. The Caribbean maverick also asked for Nabeel’s health as the fan was seen wearing a bandage on his head from the blow he received at the same ground.
The incident happened during LSG’s previous home encounter against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 12. As Pooran started blazing the ball out of the park in his tremendous knock of 61 off 34 balls, one of his sixes flew well into the stands and unfortunately ended up hitting Nabeel’s head.
Nabeel was taken to the hospital but returned to the ground while the home team trained for the Capitals game. He was recognised amid the crowd by the Lucknow franchise, which organised a heartwarming meet-up between Pooran and the fan that ended with the cricketer giving away a signed cap.
In a clip posted by LSG’s social media team, Nabeel also revealed Pooran had been in contact with him and had requested him to arrive before their game against the Capitals. While hurt by the blow, the jubilant fan said he was not too discouraged by the accident as his favourite LSG won the clash versus the Titans and hoped the side would continue winning.
“Badiya.. Pooran sir ne call karwayi thi mai aya. Mai mila, sir mile mulaqat hui. Poocha khairiyat, sab theek? (I’m fine. Pooran sir had made the call. He came and met, and asked about my health),” said the fan.
LSG face Delhi Capitals on Tuesday at their home, the Ekana Stadium. The hosts are currently placed fifth in the points table.
