Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja came up with a peach of a delivery to break through the defences of Pakistan batter Tayyab Tahir during the meeting between the sides at the Dubai International Stadium in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on Sunday.
The southpaw spinner produced an incredible turner that foxed the Pakistani middle-order batter, which left Pakistan reeling at 165 for the loss of half their side in the blockbuster encounter.
Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first as Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq opened the innings for the men in green. The openers put up a 41-run stand before Azam fell to Hardik Pandya for 23 runs in the ninth over of the game.
Imam fell shortly after as Axar Patel came up with a brilliant direct hit to get the Pakistan batter short of his crease while on 10.
Saud Shakeel and skipper Mohammad Rizwan settled the innings for Pakistan as they notched up a 104-run partnership before the captain fell to Axar on 46. Axar struck again to dismiss Shakeel before Jadeja’s scalp of Tahir.
Shakeel turned out to be the top-scorer for Pakistan with his 62-run knock.
Jadeja went on to double his tally with the removal of Salman Ali Aga for 19, before Kuldeep Yadav trapped Shaheen Shah Afridi plump in front of the wicket for a duck on the very first ball he faced. Kuldeep made his presence felt yet again as he sent Naseem Shah back to the hut for 14.
