A video shows fans lining up near the boundary to catch Rohit Sharma’s attention during the ongoing Test series between India and New Zealand.

Despite not being in his best form recently, Indian captain Rohit Sharma continues to be a fan-favourite on and off the cricket pitch. His stardom was evident during the ongoing three-match Test series between India and New Zealand. After getting out early in India’s first innings of the second Test, Rohit was spotted sitting in the dugout. Behind the star batter was a huge gathering of fans who had their phones out just to capture a glimpse of the Indian captain.
The constant cheer from the supporters made the opening batter turn around and wave at them.
Recently, one fan was spotted chasing the Indian captain’s car to get an autograph. The fan was heard saying, “Rohit Sir!” repeatedly while running behind his car. He also had the Indian captain’s jersey number 45 painted on his back.
Rohit eventually requested his driver to stop the car before rolling down the window to greet the fan.
Earlier this month, Rohit showed a cheeky manoeuvre to escape a large flock of fans after his training session. He dashed towards his blue Lamborghini to escape just in time.
The right-handed batter has struggled in red-ball cricket for India recently.
He managed scores of six and five in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai. The second fixture of the series wasn’t much different as Rohit added 31 runs across the two innings in Kanpur.
His poor Test form has followed him into the India-New Zealand series. Rohit was dismissed at just two runs in the opening game’s first innings. He made a recovery in the second with a half-century but it wasn’t enough for India to win the game.
The second Test saw Rohit getting out on a nine-ball duck in their first dig.
