Steve Smith got a lucky break as the nails did not fall even as Axar Patel‘s delivery hit the stumps during Australia and India‘s semi-final in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

The incident happened on the last ball of the 14th over, which ended up being a maiden, as Smith was lucky to not see the bails not fall neither did they light up, despite the ball trickling on to hit the stumps.
Axar Patel bowled it flat and quick as well as fuller on the stumps to Steve Smith. The Aussie skipper went for the drive but ended up getting only an inside edge as the ball went on to hit the pads. The ball then deflected onto the stumps but the bails did not come off nor did it light up.
