Virat Kohli nearly got into an argument after being mocked while on his way back to the Indian dressing room.
The Melbourne Test between India and Australia is producing riveting drama, on and off the field, and Virat Kohli continues to be its centerpiece. The Indian batting star, after being dismissed late into the third session of the second day’s play, nearly got into an argument with a spectator after being taunted while on his way back to the dressing room.
Kohli, who has been dismissed multiple times in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy while chasing outside off-stump deliveries, looked focused on not repeating his mistakes when he walked in at bat at No.4 following the dismissal of KL Rahul at the stroke of tea on Friday.
He dropped anchor and with Yashasvi Jaiswal, stitched a century stand that led India’s reply to Australia’s 474-all out in first innings. However, a moment of indecision triggered a batting collapse when Jaiswal was run out on 82.
Soon Kohli followed him back to the dressing room after being caught behind on 36. Nightwatchman Akash Deep didn’t last long and was sent back for a duck.
At stumps, India were 164/5, still trailing by 310 runs.
Kohli, after being dismissed, nearly got into an argument with a spectator before an official quickly calmed him down and escorted him away.
Kohli has been facing Australian media’s ire after his altercation with 19-year-old debutant Sam Konstas on Day 1.
