Sarfaraz Khan’s catching was the cause for the likes of Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel to break into fits of laughter.
The Indian men’s cricket team toiled hard during training ahead of the five-match series against Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, starting from November 22 at Perth.
In between the serious sessions of training, Sarfaraz Khan was the cause for the likes of Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel to break into fits of laughter.
At the Optus Stadium, the venue for the first Test Sarfaraz, Kohli, Pant and Jurel were seen fielding so as to simulate fielding in the slip region.
In a viral video, Pant was seen keeping while Sarfaraz was at first slip, Virat at second and Jurel at third slip.
When a catch came the way of Sarfaraz, very close to his mouth, the Mumbai-born cricketer caught the ball in a very strange way but did manage to save himself from getting hit on hitting his mouth.
On seeing Sarfaraz’s catching, the other three players could not hold back their laughter. Kohli tried to suppress his laughter and hid his face with both hands, while Jurel was also seen doing the same. Pant though could not restrain himself as he fell straight down on the ground laughing. Seeing Pant, the other two also started laughing as Sarfaraz also broke into a smile.

Sarfaraz may play the opener in Perth as India captain Rohit Sharma will not participate in the first Test. If Rohit is unavailable for the series opener then KL Rahul could be asked to partner Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top of the order, opening up a slot in the middle-order for Sarfaraz, who has broken into the Indian team after scoring heavily in domestic cricket and has also recorded his maiden Test hundred in the recent series at home against New Zealand. Jurel is also in line to break into the playing XI after his impressive performance against Australia A at the MCG.
Sarfaraz made his Test debut in February and in his six matches since, has scored 371 runs at an average of 37.10. Barring his century in Bengaluru, Sarfaraz struggled to get going in the other five innings against New Zealand, managing only 21 runs.
