After stumps were called on Day 1 of the second Test between India vs New Zealand, Virat Kohli was seen having a brief training session at the Maharashtra Cricket Stadium, as the Indian icon looks to prepare himself to bat tomorrow.

The conditions in Pune have been one that is particularly favourable for the spinner. In the first innings, all 10 wickets fell to the off-spinning pair of Washington Sundar (7) and Ravichandran Ashwin (3) showing how the turn is proving to be a tough challenge for the batters.
Indians have historically been prolific players of spin but more importantly, it will be a chance for Kohli to get that big score on the board to end questions regarding his ability.
In fact, the last time Kohli scored a century was against the West Indies during the Port of Spain Test in July 2023. Over a year has passed since then and the veteran will be keen on ending that drought with a big score to help India level the series.
There also have been questions regarding Team India’s ability to combat spin in recent times. This comes after India suffered a crushing ODI series defeat to Sri Lanka during the white-ball tour, earlier this year.
But this Indian unit will have bigger things in their mind like taking some crucial World Test Championship (WTC) points to help boost their chances of securing a spot in the final and also keep their long-standing series-winning streak alive as well.
On the second day, the Indian batting unit will ensure that they can get a big partnership to start things off and end the day with a solid lead to ensure they are in pole position to secure the victory in the second Test.
