Virat Kohli’s hilarious attempt at disturbing Devon Conway’s concentration left a smile on the latter’s face.
Virat Kohli was all pumped during the opening day of the second Test between India and New Zealand in Pune. Having faced a defeat in the Test series opener, India are desperate to script a comeback in Pune in a bid to level the series. So, it did not come as a surprise when Kohli showcased his fighting spirit and gave a stare to an opposition batter. However, this attempt was more playful than serious. Kohli was spotted charging towards Devon Conway and shouldered the New Zealand opener leaving the batter with a wide smile.
A video of the light-hearted moment has now gone viral on X (formerly Twitter).
Conway was New Zealand’s star batter in the first innings of the Pune Test. He played a fine knock of 76 off 141 balls to guide the Kiwis before they were bowled out for 259.
Conway’s superb innings comprised 11 boundaries. He was ably supported by Rachin Ravindra who scored 65 runs off 105 balls. Later, Mitchell Santner also chipped in with valuable contributions of 33 runs.
For India, Washington Sundar came up with brilliant bowling in the first innings as he registered a seven-wicket haul. Ravichandran Ashwin chipped in with three wickets.
Meanwhile, Kohli was dismissed for just one in India’s reply. The former India skipper was bizarrely bowled after missing a full toss from New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner.
Indian batting order crumbled to spin as they were bowled out for 156.
Ravindra Jadeja emerged as India’s highest scorer in the first innings having scored 38. Santner claimed seven wickets for the visitors who took a 103-run lead.
New Zealand are eyeing a historic Test series win on Indian soil having taken a 1-0 lead by winning the opening match in Bengaluru.
