Jaiswal seems to be having fun in the second innigns as he shares some funny banter with Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne.
While many expect the Border-Gavaskar series to be a fiercely contested battle between two of the best teams in the world, the second day of the opening Test in Perth saw a hilarious moment between India’s opening batter, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne.
Jaiswal along with KL Rahul, gave India the perfect start to the second innings with the pair stitching an unbeaten partnership of over 100 runs and both men reaching their half-centuries as well.
The young southpaw who was on the non-striker’s end, was making his way back into the crease when Labuschagne had the ball and looked to fake a throw to the stumps to get a reaction from Jaiswal. But the young Indian opener did not seem fazed by it and had a hilarious reaction to it as both men laughed.
After the duck in the first innings, Jaiswal has come back stronger in the second innings scoring over 80 runs while Rahul also remains unbeaten on 62. With India’s lead, crossing the 200-run mark, the visitors stand firmly in front to take the win in the first Test.
Australia on the other hand, will be forced to dig deep considering how far they have fallen back in the contest after the first innings. The bowlers made use of the pitch at the right time to ensure that India was bundled out for just 150 runs, but the Aussie batters were not able to match it as they were all out for 104.
Labuschagne and the rest of the Australian batting unit will have to make up for the runs not scored and also hope that the Indian unit will crumble at some stage, leaving them enough time to chase down whatever the total may be to take the series lead.
Australia have not won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for almost a decade and the mighty Aussies will be desperate to reclaim the title and also end India’s chances of making it to the World Test Championship (WTC) final for the 2023-25 cycle.
