Virat Kohli can be seen jogging towards Jasprit Bumrah’s direction while teasing Sam Konstas before the over.
Virat Kohli had some spicy advice for Jasprit Bumrah during the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. On Day 2 of the Sydney Test, Kohli briefly chatted with Bumrah before an over. He told Bumrah to bowl a delivery closer to Sam Konstas’ body to create a chance of getting his wicket. “Bowl him close towards his body, he might go for attacking shots. There is a chance to get him out. We have one over, take this chance,” Kohli told Bumrah.
A video of the chat was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by broadcaster Star Sports India. “The most talked about contest from the Sydney Test that even got Virat Kohli wear his emotions on his sleeve, delivering pure Stump Mic Gold!” the post read.
The clip began with Virat Kohli jogging towards Jasprit Bumrah’s direction while teasing Sam Konstas before the over. “Yes Bumrah, there is your man now,” the 36-year-old said. The stand-in India skipper took Kohli’s words seriously and nipped the ball back in for Konstas. The 19-year-old Aussie opener attempted a pull but got hit on the body . Konstas tried to assume control by stepping out of his crease but couldn’t make the right contact as the ball once again angled towards his body.
The unsuccessful shot attempts from Sam Konstas led to Jasprit Bumrah taking a slight dig at the Australian youngster. The pacer could be heard describing Konstas as a number 10 batter in the video. The 19-year-old was eventually dismissed by Mohammed Siraj in the 12th over. He departed after adding 23 runs for Australia, scoring three boundaries. In the same over, Siraj also sent Travis Head packing for three runs.
A Jasprit Bumrah-led India brought their A-game on Day 2 of the Sydney Test. Early scalps from Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj saw Australia at 39/4 by the 12th over. Steve Smith attempted to rescue the host side’s first innings but couldn’t make it past 33 runs.

Beau Webster, making his debut, scored a half-century to keep Australia in the game. The hosts, however, kept losing wickets in frequent intervals before finishing at 181 runs. The pace-bowling trio of Bumrah, Siraj and Prasidh Krishna did the majority of the heavy lifting as they combined for eight wickets.
Having dismissed Australia before tea, India have now regained crucial momentum in Sydney. They will be looking to overcome their batting woes in the second innings for an opportunity to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with hopes of tying the series 2-2.
