BCCI Secretary Rajeev Shukla said that India is clear about its stance and that it will act according to the government’s advice.
The tussle between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) seems to have put the International Cricket Council (ICC) in a fix. The Indian cricket board has informed the ICC that Rohit Sharma and his team will not travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. On the other hand, the PCB, which has been reluctant to implement the hybrid model, has sought an explanation from the global body over India’s stance.
While the ICC toils to find a middle ground to conduct the eight-nation event, BCCI secretary Rajeev Shukla has opened up on the ongoing episode. Speaking to ANI, Shukla said that India is clear about its stance and that it will act according to the government’s advice.
“We are very clear about it and it’s our policy that – whatever the government asks us, whatever the direction it gives, we will do according to that – we have conveyed this to ICC as well,” said Shukla.

ICC puts PCB’s ‘PoK’ CT Trophy tour on hold
The ICC on Friday put the Champions Trophy tour of disputed Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on hold following BCCI’s strong objection. While sources in the PCB said late Friday evening that the Pakistan Board would remove one of the four disputed cities from the trophy tour, it is understood that the ICC will force Pakistan to strike off all of them.
It has been learnt that BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Friday spoke to the ICC top brass and condemned the PCB for the PoK move.
“The BCCI secretary called up the ICC and was extremely critical of PCB’s move to conduct a Trophy tour of multiple cities which fall under Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. He has urged the ICC to take strong action. As far as Islamabad is concerned, there is no issue but there can’t be any Trophy tour to PoK,” a senior BCCI official was quoted as saying by PTI on conditions of anonymity.
After Shah’s objection, it was learnt that the PCB intimated the ICC about dropping Muzaffarabad from its list, but it is understood that the BCCI is unlikely to relent.
