West Indies will miss a couple of key players in the upcoming clash, with Shamar Joseph and Matthew Forde ruled out due to injuries.
The young duo of Marquino Mindley and Jediah Blades have replaced them. Both Mindley and Blades put up notable performances in the recently concluded Super50 ODI domestic tournament.
West Indies will be heading into the bilateral tour with a triumph over England in their previous ODI series. West Indies secured an eight-wicket victory in the decisive game to seal a 2-1 series win over the Englishmen. Brandon King was declared the Player of the Match for his game-winning knock of 102 runs. Matthew Forde bagged the Player of the Series award for his consistent bowling displays across the three matches.
Mehidy Hasan will captain Bangladesh in the absence of Najmul Hossain Shanto. The Bangladesh skipper suffered a ‘Grade II’ strain on his left groin during their previous ODI series against Afghanistan. Towhid Hridoy will miss the series due to a groin injury as well.
Shanto’s absence from the third game of the Afghanistan series saw their Asian counterparts win 2-1. They lost the deciding match by five wickets following a stellar all-round show from Azmatullah Omarazai. He scalped four wickets while scoring 70 runs to steal a victory for Afghanistan. Bangladesh now will be eyeing redemption as they look to get back to winning ways against the West Indies.
