At the age of 14 years and 23 days, Vaibhav Suryavanshi becomes the youngest player to play an Indian Premier League match.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi on Saturday (April 19) entered his name in the history books by becoming the youngest player to play an IPL (Indian Premier League) match. He made his debut at the age of 14 years and 23 days for Rajasthan Royals against Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2025 match currently underway at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Suryavanshi replaced Sanju Samson in the playing XI and came out to open the innings as well in the 181-run chase.
Suryavanshi faced the fourth ball of the run chase bowled by Shardul Thakur, and on that, he scored a big six. He is the fourth Indian and overall 10th batter in IPL history to score six on the first ball of the first-ever IPL match.

Who is Vaibhav Suryavanshi?
Suryavanshi is a 14-year-old top-order batter from Bihar. He was born on March 27, 2011, and has played five First Class, six List A and one T20 match so far. He was signed for Rs 1.10 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction by Rajasthan Royals.
Suryavanshi made headlines for his performance in the U19 Asia Cup 2024. In the match against UAE on December 4, 2024, at Sharjah, he opened the innings with Ayush Mhatre and remained unbeaten on 76 runs from 46 balls. In the next match against Sri Lanka, Vaibhav hammered 67 runs from 36 balls with the help of six fours and five sixes to help India chase down the target of 174 runs in just 21.4 overs and qualify for the final against Bangladesh. However, in the summit clash played on December 8, 2024, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, he was only able to score nine runs from seven balls.
