Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer has won the toss and opted to field first against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 match currently underway at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. For the rain-curtailed match, PBKS have made two changes to the playing XI. Harpreet Brar and Marcus Stoinis are playing in place of Suryansh Shedge and Glenn Maxwell.
Maxwell has been dropped from the playing XI due to his poor form. The Australian all-rounder, who was part of RCB in the IPL from 2021 to 2024, has only managed to score 41 runs in six matches played so far. However, he has impressed with his bowling and dismissed four overs.
Maxwell, who has served as PBKS captain in the past, was signed for Rs 4.20 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Shedge came in as an impact player for PBKS in the last match played against Kolkata Knight Riders in Mullanpur on Tuesday (April 15) but was not able to do much with the bat. Wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh is part of the impact players list and is likely to come in during the second half of the match.
Meanwhile RCB have dropped Devdutt Padikkal from the playing XI, but he is part of the impact players list. However, he is unlikely to feature in the match because RCB are batting first, and they are likely to use the impact player rule for a bowler or a lower middle-order batter rather than Padikkal.
14 overs per side
The ongoing match between RCB and PBKS in Bengaluru is a 14 overs per side contest due to rain, which delayed the start of the match by 2 and 1/4 hours.
