Mohammed Shami has not been named in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s playing XI and finds himself demoted to the bench in the IPL 2025 clash against Mumbai Indians.

Sunrisers Hyderabad were asked to bat first as Mumbai Indians won the toss in the Indian Premier League 2025 clash held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Players of both teams will wear black armbands to pay respect to the victims of the terror attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday.
Both teams opted to make one change each, with Hyderabad opting not to have the experienced fast-bowler, Mohammed Shami, not being named in their playing 11 for the big match against the five-time champions. But the good news is that he has been named in the impact players list whilst opting to bring in Jaydev Unadkat into the side.
Considering their lack of consistency at the top, SRH will hope that their batting can fire, and they can bring in Shami into the mix in the second innings or even someone like Rahul Chahar.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, have opted to bring in the young left-arm leg-spinner, Vignesh Puthur, in for the uncapped star, Ashwani Kumar. Once again, they have opted to put Rohit Sharma to the impact players list where he is expected to come in to open the batting in the second innings.
With hot conditions in Hyderabad, it is suggested that we could have another high-scoring game on the cards, with 200+ totals once again being likely. A dry and hard pitch is on offer and the onus will be on the hosts to get the job done and get back to winning ways after losing out to MI in their previous fixture this year.
