Yashasvi Jaiswal becomes the third Indian batter in history to score a century in his first Test against the Baggy Greens in Australia.
Star Indian opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal joined Sunil Gavaskar in an elite list on Sunday (November 24) by becoming the third Indian batter to score a century in his first Test played against Australia in Australia. Motganhalli Jaisimha was the first Indian to score a century in his first Test in Australia. He scored 101 runs in the match played in Brisbane (January 19-24, 1968).
Gavaskar joined the elite list in 1977 by scoring 113 runs in the second innings of the Brisbane Test played from December 2-6.

Jaiswal crossed the 100-run mark in the morning session of the third day’s play of the Test match, which is currently underway at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The 22-year-old left-handed batter would now like to break Gavaskar’s record of highest individual score by an Indian batter in his first Test Down Under.
