Jaiswal completed his century with a six on the fifth ball of the 62nd over of India’s second innings, which was bowled by Josh Hazlewood.
Young Indian opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is playing his first Test against Australia in Perth these days, joined legendary Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, and Virat Kohli in an elite list on Sunday (November 24) by becoming the fifth Indian cricketer to score a Test century in Perth.
Jaiswal completed his maiden Test century against Australia during the morning session of the third day’s play of the ongoing Test, which is currently underway at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
Gavaskar was the first Indian to score a century in Perth. He achieved the feat during the match played at WACA Stadium in December 1977. Gavaskar scored 127 runs from 245 balls in the second inning of that match.
He was joined by Mohinder Amarnath, who scored 100 runs in the second inning of that same match.
Tendulkar scored 114 runs from 161 balls with the help of 16 fours in the first inning of the match played at WACA from February 1 to 5 in 1992.
While Gavaskar, Amarnath, and Tendulkar scored centuries in the Test match played at WACA, Kohli scored 123 runs in the first innings of the Test match played between India and Australia at Optus Stadium in December 2018.

- 123 – Virat Kohli, 2018

In the ongoing match, Jaiswal completed his century with a six on the fifth ball of the 62nd over of India’s second innings, which was bowled by Josh Hazlewood.
He needed 205 balls to cross the 100-run mark. The century in his first Test against Australia also helped Jaiswal become the third Indian batter to score a 100 in his maiden Test Down Under.
The left-handed batter would now like to convert his century into a big score and help India post a big score in the second inning to set a big, challenging target for Australia to chase down and take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Jaiswal added 201 runs for the first wicket with KL Rahul, which also helped the duo break Gavaskar and Kris Srikkanth’s record of highest opening stand for India in a Test match played on Australian soil.
