The recent collapse at home to New Zealand saw the likes of veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failing with the bat, as India crumbled to the Kiwis. But, one man continued to build on the purple patch he’s found in Test cricket: Yashasvi Jaiswal. And it seems he is already raring to take a swipe at the Aussies in the upcoming BGT 2024.

Journalists who were scurrying around India’s secluded nets session and one of them witnessed Jaiswal pummel the ball over the nets, as the swashbuckling opener seemingly had walloped it over the nets onto the adjacent road whilst training.

India shall definitely look to the young opener to not merely retain his form, but to build on it, as Jaiswal faces the toughest test of his Test career so far: the mighty Australia.
The 22-year-old left-handed batter will be a key player for the visitors, and there will be high expectations from him after he amassed a total of 712 runs in five Tests played against England earlier this year.
But, unlike anyone before, Jaiswal will snow have to deal with the menacing pace of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Scott Boland and the fiery Mitchell Starc on their home turf. The responsibility will only increase for the youngster, if skipper Rohit Sharma decided to skip the first Test at Perth due to personal reasons.
Much hangs in the balance in this edition of the BGT for India especially, who need to clinch atleast 4 wins out of 5 matches, if they aim to fight for a WTC final spot, where they may possibly once again face the Aussies.
The Optus Stadium in Perth will host the series opener from November 22 onwards, and after that, India will play a two-day warm-up match against Prime Ministers XI in Canberra to prepare for the Pink-ball Test, which is set to take place at Adelaide Oval from December 6 to 10.
