Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has backed the Indian men’s cricket team to make a comeback in the ongoing second Test against Australia. India finished the second day’s play of the pink-ball Test in Adelaide at 128 for 5 in the 2nd innings. The visitors still trail Australia’s score by 29 runs and only have five wickets in hand. Even though things are not in India’s favour at the moment, Harbhajan feels India can still make a comeback in the match.

According to him, India has made a comeback so many times in the past, and it can bounce back once again. He wants Indian players to fight and not give up easily on Day 3, and if they manage to do so, then anything can happen.

“I think the third day will bring hope for Team India. Such situations have happened before as well. I just want to say that Team India should fight tomorrow (Sunday). If you fight, you never know what will happen. We have seen a lot of matches in the past where the team has made a comeback. We have seen miracles in cricket many times. I just want to say that as long as you are determined, keep going. Don’t give up so soon. If you score more than 120 runs and bowl in the evening, you never know what can happen. Come on, guys, let’s do it,” Harbhajan said in a video shared by Star Sports on X.

Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy will come out to bat for India in the morning session of the third day’s play. If the duo can manage to bat throughout the first couple of sessions and score at least 200 runs more, then India will have a realistic chance of making a comeback in the match and putting pressure back on the Aussies.

However, it won’t be that easy because Aussies will be high on confidence after dominating the first two days of the ongoing Test, and the hosts would like to end the Indian innings as soon as possible to secure their eighth straight win in day-night Tests played at Adelaide Oval and also level the ongoing five-match Test series.
