Ahead of the start of the 2025 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy, the Indian men’s cricket team players are training hard these days at the ICC Cricket Academy in Dubai. The Men in Blue players took part in two training sessions on Sunday and Monday after landing in Dubai on Saturday, February 15. India will start its campaign in the Champions Trophy 2025 on Thursday, February 20, against Bangladesh at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Indian players trained under lights on Monday, and after the end of the training session, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma praised a local fast bowler. In a video going viral on the internet, 37-year-old Rohit, who is aiming to become second India captain after MS Dhoni to win multiple ICC trophies, can be seen praising Awais Khan.

Awais impressed Rohit with his inswinging yorkers, and the Indian captain called him a class bowler.

Class bowler. Aap humare joota… pair todne ki kosish kar rahe the inswinging yorker maar ke. Badiya bhai badiya. Aap log humko yaha help kar rahe ho, bada acha laga, thank you,” Rohit said.

Rohit, who was horribly out of form in the three-match Test series against New Zealand last year and the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, roared back to form with a fine century against England in the second ODI of the three-match series. During his stay at the crease on Sunday, February 9, Rohit faced 90 balls, and with the help of 12 fours and 7 sixes, scored 119 runs. It was his 32nd century in ODIs and it helped the world No. 1 side chased down the target of 305 runs in 44.3 overs for the loss of six wickets.

Indian team management and fans will hope Rohit maintains his performance in the Champions Trophy as well and scores big runs. Rohit was in red-hot form for India in the ODI World Cup 2023 and T20 World Cup 2024, and if the right-handed batter manages to repeat that performance, then it will boost India’s chances of winning the ICC Champions Trophy, which is making a comeback after a gap of almost eight years.
