Star India cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma have reportedly finalised their divorce. As per several media reports, the pair completed the legal proceedings at Bandra Family Court on Thursday.
Chahal and Dhanashree were asked to attend a counselling session for around 45 minutes with the duo informing the judge they are seeking divorce due to ‘compatibility issues’.
Reportedly, they were living separately for the past 18 months.
The two reached the court around 11 AM with the final verdict being pronounced at 4:30 PM.
Chahal, who has represented India in 72 ODIs and 80 T20Is, married choreographer Dhanashree in December 2020.
The two connected during the covid-19 lockdown when Chahal approached Dhanashree for dance lessons.
The two eventually started dating before getting hitched.
Amidst the reports of their divorce being finalised, both Chahal and Dhanashree have shared cryptic posts on their respective Instagram accounts.
“God has protected me more times than I can count. So I can only imagine the times I’ve been rescued that I don’t even know about. Thank you, God, for always being there, even when I don’t know it. Amen,” read a post shared by Chahal.
On the other hand, Dhanashree wrote, “From Stressed To Blessed. Isn’t it amazing how God can turn our worries and trials into blessings? If you’re stressing about something today, know that you have a choice. You can either keep worrying, or you can surrender it all to God and choose to pray about everything. There is power in having faith that God can work all things together for your good.”
Neither Chahal nor Dhanashree has officially made a statement on the divorce being finalised so far. There are further reports that Chahal may have to pay an alimony of Rs 60 crore.
Chahal will return to competitive cricket next month when he takes the field for Punjab Kings during IPL 2025.
