Ireland are set to kick off their multi-format tour of Zimbabwe with a one-off Test in Bulawayo from today. Both teams have faced each other in just one red-ball game which Ireland won on their home soil last year. Zimbabwe suffered a batting collapse in the second innings as Ireland won the game by four wickets.
Zimbabwe will be keen to turn the tables this time. The Test match will be held at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo from February 6 to 10.
This fixture isn’t part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe last won a Test match in March 2021. The hosts will miss the service of Sikandar Raza who is currently in the UAE to feature in the International League T20. Sean Williams is back in the squad after recovering from a back issue. Along with captain Craig Ervine, he was Zimbabwe’s joint-top scorer in the recent Test series against Afghanistan with 254 runs.
Zimbabwe has called up two uncapped players- legspinner Vincent Masekesa and batter Nicholas Welch – for the contest. The duo has replaced Tadiwanashe Marumani and Dion Myers. For Ireland, Morgan Topping and Gavin Hoey hope to make their Test debuts in Zimbabwe. Hoey has already played his first international game, featuring in an ODI in October last year.
Zimbabwe vs Ireland One-Off Test Match Schedule, Date and Time: The One-Off Test between Zimbabwe and Ireland will be played from February 6 to February 10, at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. The match will start at 1:30 PM IST on each of the five days.
